Title: Another Mystery

I swam out of the sea and found my way to the bushy area of the port, I took cover among the bushes as I created a small opening among the bushes to enable me see through, to my surprise, I saw the guards approaching me. I quickly brought out my gun and prepared to fire, but something was strange. There weren’t looking towards my direction, they were actually heading towards the sea. ” He is dead” I heard one of them say as he brought out the swelled body of a policeman, ” She killed him” he added turning to the others. ” Where is she?” another asked , ” She might probably be some where inside the water” Came the reply from another. I knew the she they were referring to was Morgana, she must have probably looked for an escape means and dived into the sea, that’s how mischievous she could be. I notice some guards come out of the ship, they came out with the dead bodies of the two scientist and the guard I had a fight with, their coming out drew the attentions of the others as they rushed towards them and started conversing, I couldn’t hear what they were talking about, I only saw them drop the bodies into the sea. ” The ship is free, Move them in!!!” One of the guards who had just come out of the ship shouted to the others and immediately, they started rushing those to be trafficked into the ship. ” I must do something” I said to myself as I made to crawl toward the water again, but something stopped me. I felt my hand touch something fresh, like a human body. I looked closely at the body and it was Morgana in only a bomb short and a bra, I checked her pulse and it was fine, she had only fainted. ” I pray I get this” I said silently as I gave her the mouth to mouth respiration which I had never done before, soon she coughed back to life. ” who are you” She asked silently as i was with a mask. ” Thank God you are back” I said also smiling as I opened my mask for her to see my face and wore it back immediately. I gave her my jacket to cover herself but her chained hands prevented her from wearing them so I took it back. ” Were you kissing me?” She asked with a frown face and she put on the jacket. “No time for the for joke, the fight is still on, stay here and keep guide and watch this, am going to the ship” I said silently to her as dropped the bag containing the skulls and chemicals and made to crawl away but she drew me back. ” Am coming with you” She said smiling as she picked up a gun from the floor with her chained hands. ” No, you can’t.. ” she interrupted me ” You know you can’t stop me, you have to back me along” she said still smiling as climbed my back. I had no other option that to go with her, I crawled silently into the sea, I then swam to the lab window where I had come out from. ” Go in” I said to her as she struggled with her chained hands and went into the lab, I followed suite. ” You look horrible” I said to her as I slept on the floor of the lab after coming out from the sea. ” Those guys are heartless” She said , ” How do I take this chain off?” She asked while I stared blankly at her, ” I dont have the keys” I replied awkwardly, ” I know you dont have the keys, any alternative means?” She asked again while I shook my head, ” You have to go that way” I told her and dropped the bag containing the Skulls and chemical. With my gun gripped by my both hands and raised slightly above my head, I turned to her ” Let’s Go” I said as I moved sideways towards the door, she followed me slowly due to the restriction of her free movement by her chained hands. ” please stop staring at me, you are making me ashamed, see am almost naked” she said looking down at herself, ” Hey am not thinking of that ” I replied still staring at her, the gun was still balanced on my both hands. I removed my jacket, I removed some knives from it and placed them in my trouser ” I dont need it” I said dropping the jacket on the table. ” You want your white stained with blood?” Morgana asked smiling. Wails and cries could now be clearly heard from above, that was a sign that they were already being shipped into the ship. I opened the door slowly and peeped outside, it was free” Let’s go” I said to Morgana and walked sideways outside, she followed behind. We were lucky as there was a small saw beside the ladder like stairs which lead up, with it we were able to cut off the chain from Morgana hand. ” How good it feels to be free again” She said stretching her hand happily. ” What do we do now?” I asked her after the chain had been cut off her hand, ” Let’s go up there” She suggested. ” That would be dangerous, they migh…” She interrupted. ” They won’t get us, we will just stay up here the stairs, we won’t go out fully, the door leading to the up will be our guide. ” She said surveying the area and looking up. Also looking up, I understood what she was trying to point out, we would just climb up to the last part of the stairs and won’t go out fully, we will use the door leading upwards as our cover and we can attack from there. “Okay” I said as I climbed up the ladder like stairs, she followed behind. I got to the extreme top and peeped through by pushing the door slightly up, two guards were inside while the rest were outside. ” They are two” I told her as I cocked my gun, ” Be careful not to misfire and kill those innocent children” She said also peeping through, ” Or maybe I should take it? ” she asked, she was better than I am in using a gun. ” Okay then, be careful” I said creating space for her, the next thing that followed was the gunshot and she turned to me smiling. ” They are down” She said as she alighted down the stairs, I jumped down and hid behind a thin wooden pillar, she stood beside me. Soon we could both hear the up door open and someone climbing down the stairs, I peeped and it was another man in suit. He finally alighted from the stairs and looked around carefully and came in our direction, he stopped some metres before getting to us. ” I know you are there, come out. Your shadow has betrayed you” he said , we looked down and truly our shadows were standing just as we were standing but only mine was visible to him from where he was standing.” Do you really want me to come out?” I asked trying to be brave , ” You can save yourself the promised land if you can surrender yourself” he said and shot at the wooden pillar. I held tight to my gun as I took a deep breath, ” Stay here” I whispered to Morgana and she nodded. I dived on the floor in the direction of the lab and shot at him, he quickly took cover behind another Pillar while I took cover by the door of the lab. ” I can see you like this the hard way, there is no way you can escape here , why dont we talk as men?” He asked. ” Then drop your gun” I said after an afterthought. ” Okay” he said and threw his gun on the floor, I also dropped mine and communicated using my hands with Morgana who was still standing by the pillar, she understood what I had said and she nodded. ” Am out now” I said coming out of my hiding, he also came out with another pistol and pointed it at me. ” Guess what?” He said pointing the gun at me, I rose my hands up slowly. ” I dont keep to my words” he said and cocked the gun, ” And guess what?” I also said, ” What?” He asked smiling, I dropped down my hand and smiled back. ” Unlike you, am not a one man army” I replied him. immediately, Morgana came out from her hiding and shot him dead. ” Sweet” she said adjusting her bra. ” Please stop staring” she said while I took my eyes off her. ” I think we should..” I was about saying when the up door opened again, we quickly took cover beside the stairs. They were about five in numbers, I think they were the last set of guards in the ship. “He is dead” One said as he felt the pulse of the dead guard on the floor. ” They are still somewhere here” Another one added and with that they surrounded the whole space. ” There is no escaping for them now” another said, he was right, there was no escape for us, we were well surrounded. We remained where we were without moving an inch so as not to end our existence. Suddenly, the up door opened and gunshot could be heard everywhere , I closed my eyes as I held tight to Morgana. The gunshot stopped almost immediately as it as started and everywhere became calm. I opened my eyes and peeped , the whole guards were dead, there was only someone with black short and a thick black singlet, he was backing us as he didn’t know we were there. He was holding a gun and also putting on a black canvas. ” Thank you” Morgana said from behind, the guy turned to us immediately , lo and behold, it was Israel. ” You guys are alive?” He asked smiling as he ran to us.

” Please dont harm me” I said as I dragged myself on the floor, Shaking his head and twisting his sword, he replied” Dont worry, If I kill you, Gabriel will avenge your death” he had said. ” please I dont want to die now” I begged gesturing with my hands, my b----t wrapper has loosened but I wasn’t bothered as this man in black didn’t look like he was interested in my b----t. ” Wow, I know see why Gabriel really want you” he said, he was now staring at my b----t. ” Anyways, I am here to do my Job” he continued as he brought the sword to my waist level, ” Let me tell you this, by tomorrow, Eze Ani the chief priest of Ani will say you were killed by the gods, dont say its me o” he added, he seem to be smiling this time as his mask widened. I felt the sword touch me, I felt a little pain, and suddenly there was a rustling in the bush. He stopped and turned towards where the noise had come from but saw no one. ” I think the birds are playing pranks” He said again as he made to continue. Like a flash, another man in black appeared from no where, he gave a swinging kick to the guy who was trying to kill me, the guy fell down, he was obviously taken by surprise. The new guy was wearing a short tight knicker, a black top and also a mask. He was with a sword like the one in the killer’s hand . The killer guy advance towards him with the sword and rose it up to strike him but my saviour guided with his own sword above his head and one knee on the ground. He immediately did a sweeping kick and swept the killer man off the ground, he made to strike him on the stomach but the killer man rolled on the floor and sprang up, before we knew it, the killer man had gone. My saviour took my chest wrapper and tied it across my b----t and then carried me to a safe place, he cut some herbs and rubbed it on the bleeding area of my waist where the killer guy had started cutting. ” Who are you?” I asked shivering. ” Will you just shut up?” He asked in a thick voice, ” Thank you ” I said to him but he didn’t reply as cleaned up my wound. ” You can go home now” he said after he was done, ” Can’t I know who you are?” I asked as I tried removing his mask, ” No, dont try it” he said and pushed my hand away, he had a very thick and sorrowful voice. He turned and started walking away, he had a good and fast walking steps. ” Let me at least know your name” I shouted and he stopped , turned to me and waved his hands, ” Call me JASON” he shouted back and then he was out of sight.

They shooting increased towards but I wasn’t touched, the bushes and trees serve as hindrance for the free movement of the bullet. I looked up slightly and I saw that they were already rushing them into the ship. ” I can’t let this happen” I thought to myself. I tucked my pistol into my side as I made to crawl to the part of the bush which had grown on the sea. ” I can see his movement” One shouted as they opened fire towards my direction this time, I quickly did a front roll and dived into the sea. I stayed calm in the sea, another good advantage of my training days. ” Just shoot!!!” I heard another shout and they resume firing, this time into the sea. ” Pack them in fast ” Another one shouted to the man who was shipping them in. I swam calmly to the bottom of the ship, obviously my swimming created stirs in the water. ” He is moving this way” I heard another shout and the shooting resumed in my direction. ” He is near the ship, he must be killed” came another shout. They wails and cries became louder, the people to be trafficked had suddenly had hope in life again. I brought my head up a little but wasn’t lucky as the guy who was leading them in caught a glimpse of me, he ran towards the edge of the ship and started firing but he didn’t get me. He stopped the firing for some seconds and stared blankly at the still water. From nowhere, I came out with a swift and dragged him into the water through his head, he was taken by shock, he hadn’t obviously expected that. I immediately brought out one of my knives and planted it in the left side of his chest. The rest resume firing again, this time more vigorously and violently. I released the young man who was now dead, I allowed his body float on the sea. ” Bring him out ” I heard one of the guards instruct the others, ” Someone put a call to sir Jude, tell him we are under attack” said another guard. ” His he still alive, where is the doctor?” Another one asked. I seized that opportunity and jumped out of the water into the ship. ” Over there” Came the shout but they couldn’t shoot as they didn’t want to end up killing those to be trafficked. Nevertheless, they came after me. The inner part of the ship wasn’t beautifully decorated like I thought it would be, it was made of strong ancient woods and had all this ancient furniture scattered about, there were wooden tables and chairs, a water pot made with wood stood independently in a corner of the ship. There is a small opening leading to the underground of the ship, that is mostly where important activities are being held. I went down the stairs of the opening, it led me to the underground part of the ship. It was a different place compared to the upper part, it was beautifully decorated with nice smell and modern materials, there were doors on both side, doors with tags above them. I could see the lab, Computer Unit, V.I.P section and kitchen. All were locked except the lab. I pushed the door open and entered into the lab, I saw two scientist in lab coats preparing a kind of chemical, they stopped as they saw me, their faces depicted fear . ” Who are you?” One asked in a clean and calm accent, I looked around the lab and all I could see where fresh skulls of once living souls. ” Who the f--k are you?” Another one asked me, he happen to be a white man with grey hairs. ” Sorry I didn’t introduce myself, I am a killer, but my friends call me kill for short” I said smiling in my mask, I love making jokes from everything. ” Please, this isn’t a place for jokes” The white man said feeling more confident. ” yes, I ain’t also joking here” I said bringing out my gun and pointing it directly at the grey headed scientist. ” Please put down the gun” He said now shaking. ” I promise not to harm you, just come forward” I ordered the both of them and sure they started moving towards me. ” Now I need a comprehensive detail of what this is all about” I said pointing my gun at the skulls and also at the chemicals behind prepared and then to their heads. “We transport this skulls for exhibition to big lab across the globe and in exchange are being paid a huge amount of money” The younger scientist said shivering, I nodded my head and urged him to continue. ” The chemical is for extracting the skin away from the skeleton” he said again and I nodded. Just then I thought I heard footsteps outside, ” Shhhh” I gestured to them as I stood behind the door. I gestured to them to continue working and they did. The door opened slowly and brought to view a man in suit, another guard. ” Gweko, did you see any body, any man in black, he is with a gun?” The man in suit asked but the scientists shook their heads. ” we are under attack, be alert and hyper” he said as he turned back to meet me standing behind him, I had already bolted the door. I rushed towards him and made to stab him on the chest but he held my hand and gave me a punch which pushed my face backward, I quickly released a back kick to his chest and he also staggered backward. I jumped up with the knife to stab him , he quickly moved away and I ended up stabbing the white lab table, the knife stuck into it. I let go of the knife and turned to him, he flew and delivered a spear to me, that is hitting my stomach heavily with his muscular shoulder. He made to reach for his gun which was in his suit but I gave him a kick across his face and he fell to the floor. I did a Chinese get up and stood upright, he did a front roll and got up, I threw a punch which he weaved by bending down, almost immediately he carried me up and threw me backwards hoping I would fall. I didn’t fall as I stood still on my feet, I waited for him to turn before giving him a kick to his head, he tried maintaining his balance, I didn’t let him be and I jumped with a double kick to his head again, he fell down and rolled under a table, I also took cover behind a chair as he brought out his gun and started shooting. I noticed the chair breaking off as a result of the excessive bullets, I quickly jumped over to another chair and also started firing back. All this while, the two scientist just stood staring at us shivering, other guards were no banging the door furiously. His gun stopped firing, it was obvious his bullets were exhausted, ” S--t!!” He shouted as he threw the gun across the table but he still protected himself behind the table. I smiled to myself as I kept my gun and dive out throwing a knife at him, the knife caught his left hand, I hardly miss my targets, all thanks to sir Ajan. ” Argggh” he screamed as he rolled away from behind the table, I also rolled forward towards him. ” Take this” I shouted landing him a kick by his side, he rolled and fell to the floor breathing heavily. I drew him up and raised him with my both hands and landed him on a table. I brought out another knife and made to stab him, but he held my hand and almost immediately, gave me a kick to my head. I staggered back due to the impact of the kick, he got up and threw a punch but I caught his hand on the air. Still holding his right hand with my left hand, I did a quick turn and gave him a flying back leg kick. He fell down slowly to the ground, I also fell down as a result of the stunt. He tried getting up again but I pushed his head back to the ground with my leg, I rested the leg on his head. Like a flash he raised his hand and opened some part of my mask, I quickly dropped his hand as he had removed it to my eyes region ” You think this is the end? They will get you, If not here then in Atata. One day, your skull shall also be used for exhibition Gabriel” he smiled, I unlatched my gun and released two shot to his head. ” This will also be their fate” I said spitting on him although I had fear in his words. The other guards were now banging the door real hard, they tried shooting it down but how on earth are they meant to bring down an iron made door with a gun? ” That was a sweet fight, isn’t it?” I asked the two scientists who were now sweating profusely, ” please dont harm us” the grey headed man pleaded, ” I promise I won’t harm you” I said as I turned towards the small window made of glass, it leads directly to the sea. ” Thank you” The younger one said and I stopped. ” You know what?” I asked him, ” What?” They asked in union, ” I don’t keep to my promises” I said and shot at them, they both died instantly. I looked around and saw an empty bag, I picked it up and kept a container containing the chemical into it, I also carried two skull along. I then went toward the window and dived into the sea.

Life is just funny, it can get twisted at anytime, you dont decide life, it comes to you how it want, the end you think might be the beginning while the beginning can just be the end. I never thought there would be hope to live again, I have already viewed myself as a dead young lady, I never knew there would be an atom of hope, all thanks to Gabriel. Most of the guards ran into the ship leaving us behind with some policemen and two guards, that reminds me, it was unbelievable how a governmental body like the police force could involve themselves in such evil act of trafficking teenagers, little wonder why sir Jude is still free, the police probably knows about it but kept quiet due to the tips they get from it, hmm, what a world. I stood there with my hand chained, my legs were free. ” I can at least do something” I thought to myself. There was a police man in front of me, he was backing me. I spread my hands wide open to the extent the chain permit, I then used it to hold his neck taking him by shock. I immediately tightened my grip and drew him closer to me thereby using him as a guard to prevent bullets from the others who were now pointing their guns at me. ” Shoot and kill him” I shouted as they still pointed their guns towards me. ” Please dont shoot ” The police man begged as I tightened the grip on his neck. ” Drop him down” One of the men in suit shouted to me so also other police men. ” Just co operate with me” I whispered to the police man as I drew him backwards towards the sea, ” please dont kill me” he begged, “I won’t kill you” I whispered again still moving backwards towards the sea and using him as my guide. ” Just follow me ” I whispered as I started descending into the water with him. ” Aunty I can’t swim” he said sweating profusely as we decided into the water, ” That makes my work easier” I replied him as the water was now on our neck region. I released his neck and pushed his head down, he tried struggling to get freed but I overpowered and pushed him into the water. I made sure he had enough water before releasing him to float on the water, I removed his gun and came out of the water, I crawled to the bushy land area and took cover there. I tried shooting but all of a sudden I fell and passed out, the pain was too much.

“Ada!!” My mom called that night from the kitchen, I knew what it was for, I hadn’t gone to fetch water that morning, I had played being lazy as I was depressed. ” Mama” I said as I entered the kitchen, ” Adanna, what’s wrong with you, there isn’t water in the house and you are inside lying down. How do I cook for your father now?” She asked angrily, ” Mama am tired” I said with an awkward body movement. ” My friend will you take that pot and run to the stream” she shouted angrily while I went to a side of the kitchen for the pot. ” Let this spit not get dried before you come back” she said and swayed out angrily. “Mama Ada, take it easy on her” I heard my dad say from the compound, ” You are the one spoiling her” my mom replied him as I swayed and pass them to the stream.
• I had finish fetching the water and was about placing it on my head when I heard the rustling of the bush, I turned to see what it was but saw nothing, I discarded it as the movement of rabbits or probably birds. I continued what I was doing as I carried the water pot to my head level, ” Adanna” I heard my name and immediately dropped the water pot which got broken. Then from among the bushes, I noticed a kind of movement, someone was approaching. I drew up my small waist wrapper and took to my heels immediately but it was like I wasn’t running as I continued to hear the footsteps behind me, I turned to see who it was and that was when I staggered and fell. The person closed up on me, he was putting on a mask and was dressed in all black, ” Indeed, you are the most beautiful maiden of Atata” he said as he brought out a sword from his back.

“Oh matt!” I said in anger as the guard drew me up with force and pushed me to the ground again, “Go bring rope make we bundle am inside car” the guard said to another one who went immediately and came back some minutes later with a thick strong rope. ” Where is your phone?” He asked as he made to tie me, ” I didn’t come with it” I replied trying my best not to cry, I actually decided not to carry my phone along that night as it was battery flat. They tied me down and carried me into a car, I was kept in the booth of the car, I was folded in like .
• Another punch hit me, it had been a night filled with punches, they all took turn in punching me and wiping me with something I could not see because I was blindfolded. I knew I was in a room as I knew when I was brought into the room, but I didn’t know the place I was, I didn’t know the location of where I was, I only knew I was in a room of a strange environment. They had stripped me of my gown, I was only putting on the bomb short and bra. I didn’t even have the chance to see my almost naked self as I was blind folded. ” See sexy girl like this, person no go know say na thief she be” One of the guards said in pidgin. ” Hassan, ni be thief they call am, na spy” Another one said. ” same thing, thief or spy, what’s the difference?” Hassan asked him while they bursted into laughter. ” By tomorrow, you go dey abroad” Another one said while they laughed again, ” You sure say this one no go die for inside ship?” Hassan asked the rest while they bursted in laughter again. ” She no fit die, na spy she be” Another one answered and they resumed their punching again, this time I had no option but to cry, not for any reason but for the fact that I was betrayed by one of my good friends, Mathew popularly known as Matt. If any other person could have betrayed me, it wouldn’t have been this painful, I never expected someone from Newriton, my set mate will betray me. The rest are now in danger as for sure Matt will also betray them, I wonder how Gabriel is gonna feel passing through this kind of pain am passing through, he might just want to fight back, his temper and pride won’t allow him stay still and receive such torture, he might rather just kill himself, he is stubborn and strong, he doesn’t allow anyone take advantage on him, he might even involve himself in open fire with them, he live with the slogan ” Never give up” , the mere thought of how he might behave when being captured made me burst into laughter forgetting that I was under torture. ” This girl dey craze o” one of the guards said giving me a kick in the stomach region.
• yes, I remember Gabriel say he would be at the port tomorrow, he had wanted to know what they were shipping and with that he would be at the port. I knew he would come, be always keep to his words no matter what comes may. The only problem is that I was meant to go with him, but I will be no where to be found, ” Dont worry Gabriel, I will also be at the port, not with you, but on chains” I thought to myself and smiled as I didn’t want to receive another kick. Gabriel, Gabriel, a spy pass midnight. How sure am I that he wouldn’t be captured tomorrow? It will be great fun being with Gabriel tomorrow in the same ship and going abroad. Just pray I dont die in the sea I have a kind of hatred for water you know. I didn’t know when I slept off, but I knew I slept off in my thoughts.

I whistled a song as I prepared for school that morning, I was on duty in cleaning the toilet again, I pray it isn’t as bad as it was the first time I cleaned it. I walked into the sitting room and met Matt and Israel playing games. ” Matt hardy, when did you come?” I asked him. ” I came this morning, I had actually called israel to come open the gate for me ” he said as he moved his body sideways holding the game pad. ” Are you going for your cleaner work?” Israel asked me while they both bursted into laughter, ” At least I am more better than the both of you who go about planting cameras.” I said also smiling, ” Daniel is the one slowing us down, he is always with the computer browsing about something I dont know, he is to slow in this mission, I should have broken Into the house a long time ago” Matt said while israel gave him a mockery eye ” Broke into the house, you wey no get liver” Israel complemented while we laughed. ” I think Daniel is being careful” I said though not from my mind, I dont like the Daniel of a guy. ” Okay guys, its is time to separate the men from the boys, am going to work” I said smiling, ” Yes boy go to work and leave the men” Israel said as I went out.

Sir Jude was already in school, his class who actually the first class in the school so there is no way you enter the school without passing through his class. ” Good morning sir” I greeted as I walked towards the changing room, ” Yes, Goof morning Gabriel” he greeted back while I stopped and walked towards him with my back, ” Sorry sir, how did you know my name?” I asked politely.

“See this boy o, I know the names of everyone in this school, as long as you work here, I know your name” he said while I smiled. ” Okay sir” I simply replied smiling as I made to walk away. ” Can we meet for a drink this night, about this your joblessness stuff, can we meet and talk?” He asked but I shook my head and bit my lips. ” Actually, I will be busy this night sir, can we make it tomorrow night?” I asked politely again while he nodded firmly. ” If that’s okay, you can go let me mark my pupil assignment ” he said smiling, I also smiled and walked away. ” He might just give me a job in his house” I thought to myself as I changed into the cleaners cloth. ” That will be another head start for our mission o” I thought grinning happily. ” I didn’t see you yesterday” I heard Tobi’s voice as I step out of the changing room, ” were you suppose to be looking for me?” I asked smiling. ” That’s is not how to reply to my greetings” she replied. ” You didn’t greet, did you?” I asked again. ” Why weren’t you around yesterday?” She asked, ” I wasn’t on duty yesterday, I only have to work Wednesdays and Fridays” I answered, ” Why are you even asking?” I asked, ” Nothing, just thought you were sick” She replied as she made to walk away, ” Am boring right?” I asked after her, ” You are more than boring” she replied while I nodded and went towards the toilet to start the day. Surprisingly, the toilet wasn’t as dirty as the first day I entered into it, it was a bit neater today and thus making my job easier. I was done before 12:00pm, which was the normal time for school break, I bought some snacks to help myself with and then went home to plan for the night.
• ” The number you dialed is switched please try again later” came the reply from my phone when I tried calling Morgana that afternoon as I walked home, she isn’t met to switch off her phone, she knew we had plans for the night. I called up to five times but got the same reply, switched off. I then called Christiana. ” Hello, Gabriel are you really the one calling me? I thought you have forgotten about me” Christiana said calmly over the phone. ” How are you?” I asked , ” Dont ask me anything, you are ju….” I interrupted her ” See, am sorry, there is work to do and no time to call, am sorry” I apologized, that was only what she needed to hear, sorry. ” Okay, am fine and how are you?” She asked. ” Am also fine, what about Morgana? The pain was too much to bear, they didn’t pity that I was once a girl child, I was tortured almost naked , I was flogged with cane and dealt with punches. Once they opened my eyes to see myself, I had no choice than to laugh, a laugh of regret, a laugh which hungered for revenge, a laugh to hide my sorrow and pain. They brought a mirror to me to see myself, I was a nightmare of who I used to be, my lips seems to be more than its normal size, there was blood on my face but I kept on smiling as I awaited my death. It would have been better to die in the street than dying as a spy. I took a look at myself, all my pride was gone, all my dignity was no more, there was nothing to hide again as a girl as it was a clear show on the cross. I flashed back to back in the days of training, once I had injured my arms and Matt had come to back me to the sick bay, I had seen him as a brother, he was kind and good, he was funny and full of goodness. Jesus Christ my saviour ate his last supper so I should be given the chance to eat before being shipped or killed. ” Let’s give her something” One of the guards said to the others, ” We dont have food o, we only have drinks” another one said to me, ” Anything will do” I said smiling, ” Open her mouth ” Another guard said while two of the guards forced my mouth opened, in my presence, one of them pulled his trousers and urinated into my mouth while the rest bursted into laughter, I could not hide the tears behind the smile again as I let it go, yes I let it go,spy or no spy, a female child shouldn’t be treated like this. I bursted into tears as I rolled on the floor in the bid to free myself and fight back but I couldn’t as the ropes held me tight. They bursted into laughter again and threw kicks at me. I pray I die in the ship, I know whatever they are shipping me for, it isn’t something good.

It was 7:00pm in the night of the same day, I was dressed in my spy uniform, all black except the white shirt . My black jacket was equipped with knives, I had two guns, each on the sides of my waist. I knew they were to depart by 9:00pm, I had seen it in the laptop. I wore my black mask and took the keys to my bike. For once I used the helmet of the bike not for any reason but to prevent myself from being seen on masks by the people of Lagos. I drove off to the port in high spirit, I was also going with anger as I was disappointed in Morgana for disappointing me, she could have just told me she was scared, I would understand. The way to the port is filled with bushed on both side, there is a big road in the middle of the bushes, big enough to even convey trailers. I stopped in a far distance from the port, I then parked my bike among the bushes and walked through the bushes, I could hear the wailing of humans, they were crying and begging for mercy. There was a big ship in the ocean, and before it were young teenagers tied with chains. I was hid myself with the bushes as no one who know there was someone there. I could see some guys in police uniform parading the place while some boys in suit were counting the people to be trafficked. I checked my time and it was 8:30pm, I had like 30 minutes more before they depart. Suddenly I heard a car stop and other men in suit got down with them was a young lady in chain, she was wearing only a bra and bomb shot. I cleared the bushes well and stared again at the young lady who was being dragged to the others who were now led into the ship, I recognized her immediately, it was Morgana. I felt the anger burn in me, this is the kind of moment where I discard all my trainings, I dont believe in keeping calm in situations like this. ” Its now or never” I said as I cocked my gun, cleared the bushes and brought down one of the men in suit. The rest got alerted immediately as they started shooting randomly into the bush. I stood up and changed my position as I brought down another man in suit and then a police man.

The day was now dark, I and Israel were still in the sitting room, I just finish narrating my ordeals to him, I had decided not to tell him during the day as I was very tired and needed to rest, I had woken up hours later and went to work in the tomato farm while Israel assisted me in going to the market to buy some foodstuffs. It was dark after we finished all those and I thought that was the right time to tell him about my discoveries, about the picture of the young man from Atata I had seen.
” That doesn’t still confers that there he has something to do with the young man death” Israel said looking at me. ” Then what was the young man picture doing on the laptop?” I asked smiling broadly. ” Cant you see it from the point of view that that young man can be a relative?” Israel asked clutching his fist together. ” What about the question if to kill or kidnap at the bottom of the mail?” I asked him but got no reply, he just stood staring at me. ” You see, in as much as I am not in support of what you did, I think it has given us a step ahead in this mission ” he finally said while I smiled. ” I am heading to the port tomorrow, I wanna know what they are shipping, you gonna come with me?” I asked him but he shook his head. ” No, I ain’t coming with you, I have other things to do” he said, ” Anyways, Morgana is coming with me, but you know you are a guy, you might be…” He interrupted me, ” I, Daniel and Matt got work tomorrow” he said as he put on the decoder to watch sport. ” Let this be between us, I am going to the port tomorrow” I told him and he nodded. ” just be careful” he said paying concentration on the football now being displayed. ” Wait, I hope there is nothing going on between you and Morgana?” He asked while I bursted into laughter. ” Which Morgana?” I asked him, ” The same Morgana we both know” he replied also laughing, ” You should know better bro” I said. ” And how is Adanna , did she reply that letter?” Israel asked me again, I hissed and shook my head. ” I haven’t heard from her ever since I wrote to her ” I replied, the fact that I haven’t seen or heard from Adanna was eating me up. ” hey, dont be down bro, Adanna will be fine” he said smiling at me. ” I hope so” I said as I remembered the few moments I had with her, Adanna. ” She is the best” I finally blurted out after some few minutes, ” its a goal, first goal in 10 minutes, this is superb” Israel shouted jumping up. ” Foolish boy” I murmured walking into the Kitchen. ” Dish for me, I am also hungry” he shouted after me, ” I can’t hear you” I shouted back.

I stood staring at Sir Jude in shock, I was wondering where I had gone wrong, how was he able to tell my identity as a spy? I stared at him as I thought of a quick lie but my my lying ability failed me. Even Ajan your master can’t spy on me” he said taking me aback with shock, ” How did he know Sir Ajan?” I asked myself , ” Aren’t you gonna say anything?” He asked ” Yeah, I am a spy but I am not spying on you” I tried defending myself. ” Shut up, Matt my boy already told me everything” he shouted in anger, I stared at him in shock. ” Surprised? Yeah, Matt my humble boy ” he said again, ” Matt, I never expected this from you” I thought to myself in anger, ” God, just give me a chance to let hold of that f-----g son of a b---h” I thought again. ” He also told me about, Christiana, Gabriel, Daniel, and Israel. He got to the room and met the door locked, with the help of the spare key, he was able to gain access into the room only to meet everywhere empty” he said laughing. ” I was in the swimming pool at the back of the hotel” I quickly lied. ” That doesn’t change the fact that you are a spy and you have been instructed to spy in me with your colleague, I will like to meet them one day” He said laughing wickedly as he stood up from the chair and walked out. “Take her, Beat her up and lock her, we will also ship her along with the rest tomorrow” he heard him say to his boys before finally existing the club which was now as silent as grave yard as everyone had run away in anticipation of what was to happen next. There was no point fighting as I had no chance against the six guards, this isn’t a movie where Jackie Chan will fight against 20 people and escape, this was real life. ” Search her first” I heard one of the guards tell the rest, ” Off course we go search am” another one said as he pushed me to the floor and started touching my body, he got to the waist region and felt the gun, he drew up my gown without shame or fear, he removed the gun from my bomb short. ” Fine girl like you” he said as he searched further to my heels and took the knife.

” No he isn’t dead” Alvana replied still smiling, ” he only fainted ” he added as he collected my water pot and dipped it into the stream, he brought it out some seconds later and poured the content on Mbe who was lying on the floor. Mbe sprang up immediately, he stared at Alvana with an expression of fear written all over him, and almost immediately took to his heels. ” Does he goes about bullying people?” Alvana asked staring at me, ” the fact that he is the village best wrestler gives him confidence and boldness ” I replied though I was scared of him, I have never seen a slap pass someone out.” How did you pass him out?” I asked , ” Just a slap” he replied smiling. ” Hey, dont be scared of me” he added still smiling, he took my water pot again and dipped it into the stream, he brought it out after some seconds and with a single hand, placed it on my head. ” Thanks Alvana” I said gesturing ” Go and see Mbe no more” he also said in a funny manner as he took the left turn to his farm, ” Funny Alvana” I said to myself though still surprised by the earlier incidence. It has been more than weeks Gabriel left now, there is no sign on his forthcoming, I wake up with false hope each day that Gabriel would just barge into my compound, lift me up on his muscular shoulders and spin me around but no. Like I had said, they were false hopes.

Though I still felt the effect of the pain from the gunshot, it didn’t stop me from having a night ride with Morgana. She sat behind me holding my waist as I sped along the smooth road of Lagos, it was dark but to some people of Lagos, the day was just beginning, as music from clubs and joints filled the air. I finally parked the bike in the middle of no where, I and Morgana found a pavement and sat on as we stared into the sky like lovers counting the stars. ” Do you really love Christiana?” She asked me picking up a stone. ” Christiana, I love her of course” I replied. ” Are you both in any sort of relationship?” She asked again knowing how naughty I could be. ” No, we aren’t, we are just mere friends, why are you asking?” I asked. ” Because Christiana isn’t good for you” she simply replied . ” How?” I inquired further. ” I dont know, I just feel she isn’t good for you” She said again. ” How about your fiance?” I asked her, ” My what?” She asked while I stared at her in confusion. ” Your fiancé ” I replied. ” He is fine” She replied smiling, ” I wish to see him one day” I said also smiling. ” That day will never come” she replied while I gave her a friendly punch and got up, ” I think we should get going now ” I said to her. ” Are you scared of the night?” She asked also getting up and dusting her buttocks. ” We can’t tell what the night brings” I replied holding her hand and pulling her towards the bike. ” And remember the old nurse said I still have to treat my hand” I added, she nodded and hopped on the bike, ” Are you ready for a rough ride?” I asked smiling, ” Drive me away ” She shouted as she flung her hands into the air, I started the bike and rode back to the old abandoned house of the nurse, there was a small lantern in the general room, but there wasn’t anyone in sight. ” Mama” Morgana shouted but got no response. I brought out my gun and headed for the room, I pushed the door open only to meet the old woman lying peacefully on the bed. ” Shhh, she is sleeping” I said to Morgana trying to pull her out of the room. ” You both stayed too long” The woman suddenly spoke getting up from the bed. ” Mama, you weren’t sleeping? ” Morgana asked smiling. ” The night is still early to sleep” the old woman said as she came to me and touched my left arm. ” You have stressed it so much” she said staring at me, I looked into her eyes and she seem to look familiar. ” I will have to clean you up” She said as she gestured to me to take off my cloth. She went into a corner of the room and brought a calabash filled with herb. I sat on the bed as she held the hand and cleaned it with a kind of leaf. ” You look like my son” She said after a while of cleaning. ” Your son? Where is he?” I asked. ” He is dead” she replied without any feeling. ” Mama, I never knew you had a son” Morgana said sitting beside me on the bed. ” I had a son, he died a long time ago, he was 12 years when he died, he died alongside his father” The old woman said.

” How did he die?” I asked feeling pity for the old woman, ” An accident, it happened some years back, on the second week of December. Of course like every other family, we were going shopping, we were going shopping with my husband’s car, his brake failed and we all got displaced in the bush, I only met myself in the hospital some month after coma, i heard my son and husband died in the accident, it was said that they died with the car fire, I was only lucky as the fire only burnt a little part of me” she said showing us her left hand which was caught in the fire. ” my husband and son got burnt to ashes, I never got the chance to see their bodies. I had to clear all the money I had to pay for my hospital bills, my husband relations wanted to have nothing to do with me so they sent me out of the house. I had no where to turn to as my own parents were also dead, I had no relation whatsoever, the one I had never wanted anything to do with me, but I had to live. I built this small hut and I have been making a living by treating people as a local nurse ” She said smiling, I was shocked she was smiling. ” Am sorry mama, everything happens for a reason” Morgana said. ” Did you learn this act, I mean the herb..” She interrupted. ” My father did this, I learnt it from him, and I backed it up with my western education” she said still smiling. ” Do you have friends?” I asked her. ” Yes, I have just one friend” she said. ” Hmm, Who is she?” I asked, ” Morgana here, she is the only one who comes to visit me ” the old woman said while I smiled at Morgana, ” Mama, you have gotten two friends now, myself and Morgana” I said smiling. ” No, I have gotten one friend and a son, you look much like my son” She said smiling while I nodded in approval. ” I hope you both we be able to eat the food I prepared? ” she asked as she released my hand and went off to a corner of the room where she cooks food, ” Mama doesn’t know how hungry we are” I said and we all bursted into laughter.

We woke up the next morning in peace, Mama prayed for us as we left her house that morning. I didn’t go with Morgana on my bike, she took public transport home. ” Gabi the women guy” Israel shouted as I drove into my compound that morning, I wasn’t going to work that day as i was not on duty. I only had to work on Wednesdays and Fridays but today is Thursday. ” Gabi, you are sure gonna gist me about this” Israel said again coming out of my small tomato farm, I didn’t reply him as I parked my bike. ” What happened to your hand?” He asked as he raised my shirt, ” Another club fight, I was stabbed with a bottle and had been in the hospital all night” I told him while he bursted out laughing. “What about the girl, the club girl Morgana said you were with?” He asked me in between laughter’s, ” She ran away” I said walking inside. ” Where is Matt?” I asked as I entered the sitting room, ” He went to our apartment” he replied me. ” How far have you guys gone with your mission?” I asked, ” Not far, young Carl called yesterday saying there wasn’t any strange activities outside the house, we are planning on visiting the inside” Israel said. ” How do you guys plan on doing that? ” I asked, ” Only Daniel knows” he said. ” I visited the inside” I opened up to him while he stared at me confused, ” Inside of where?” He asked, ” promise me you will keep it a secret ” I pleaded though I knew my secrets were always safe with Israel. ” Of course, let me in bro” he said with a serious face. ” I and Morgana broke into the house yesterday” I said calmly and stopped to see his reaction, I went ahead when he didn’t react. ” That was where I got this injury from, it wasn’t any club fight, I was shot by one of the guards. ” I said and stopped again. ” why did you do such? That wasn’t what we were asked to do, we were just asked to find out what he does not a combat with his boys. The man might clean after all this and you can also risk your identity, you have also messed things up ” Israel said angrily. ” Sorry to disappoint you, he isn’t clean” I said while Israel adjusted himself on the chair. “What did you get?” He asked curiously, ” i was able to gain access into one of their secret laptops and i saw that he would be shipping something tomorrow, I dont know what it is but I am going to the port to find out” I said . ” That doesn’t depict that he is unclean” Israel said looking serious, ” I know, but there was something else” I told him, ” What?” He asked.

” Christiana, where have you been?” I asked Christiana that Thursday afternoon, she was just coming back home from God’s knows where since the day we met at the club. ” I was with my new catch” she said smiling, ” This isn’t what we were asked to do, we are on a mission and you are busy flirting with guys ” I shouted angrily, ” Just like the way you were flirting with Sir Jude Ike” she shouted back. ” That is a different case, that’s is part of the mission work” I said obviously surprised by her reply, ” Why should he pick you when I was there, you might have enticed him one way or the other” She said again. ” Stop talking like an harlot, we..” I didn’t finish the statement before a hot slap landed on my face. ” You slapped me?” I asked angrily ” Yes, that’s for calling me an harlot” She said smiling. ” Am surprised you dont know that what you are” I said smiling but angry inside of me, I was expecting her to slap me again but she knew better as she sat down on the chair chewing her gum.
• It was around 9:30pm that night, the moon was out that night and provided light in the dark. Men could be seen with briefcases heading home after the day’s work, traders could also be seen packing their wares. I drove the sport car which Christian had brought back home earlier that day, I was heading to Kendrick club again to see Sir Jude, not for any reason, its part of our assignment to watch him, dont see it like I have got something for him.
Luckily for me, he was already in the club, I was able to recognize his jeep which was guarded by his guards in suit. I went into the club adjusting my short gown. I had also hid a gun in my thick white bomb short which I wore under my gown, a knife was in my white heels as usual. Call me woman in white that night I would answer you, I was all in white. I sighted Sir Jude on his usual table surrounded by his guards, unlike other days, he wasn’t surrounded by girls. He was sitting alone looking moody and angry. I walked towards him and he smiled when he sighted me. ” I have been expecting you Morgana” he said as he held my left hand and drew me to his laps. ” You missed me?” I asked smiling, he didn’t answer as the smile on his face turned into a frown, I saw his guards surround us. ” You didn’t tell me you were a spy from Newriton” he said as he adjusted the long arms of my gown to reveal the mark of Newriton on my left wrist.

” Arrgh” I shouted as I held my bleeding arms and lied on the floor of the free land beside Jude’s mansion. Apart from the spot where I was shot, there were also some other parts bleeding due to the dangerous jump through
glass made window. ” Gabi, are you okay?” Morgana asked trying to lift me up. The guards peeped through the window and started firing at us again, We quickly dodged behind the fence breathing heavily. ” This isn’t the sort of fun we planned for” Morgana said as she brought out her gun, ” Let me handle this” she added when I tried bringing out my gun. She rolled forward a little and shot randomly towards the window, I could now see people running helter scatter, People of the street. ” You are bleeding real bad” She said as she rolled back to me. ” we need to leave here as soon as possible” She said again. ” I dont want anyone to know about this” I told her holding my left hand with the right. ” The time is 2:15 now” I added looking up at her. ” come off it, you know it takes up to an hour to drive from royalty to Perfect peace considering the Lagos traffic” She said and I nodded. ” Let’s get out of here, you need to have your hand treated.” She said. ” This is a bullet, they will need a police warrant before treating me” I told her. ” Am not taking you to the hospital ” She said as she drew me up and we escaped to where my bike was parked. ” I will drive ” she said as she hopped on the front seat. ” Off course you will have to” I replied sitting beside her. I didn’t know what happened next, I only woke up to meet myself on a small bed in a small room. My left hand has been treated and there was a bandage around it though it was covered with my cloth which had been washed cleaned by God knows who. I turned left and my eyes caught the wall clock, the time was 7:30pm, I got up and sat on the strong iron bed, just then the small door the room opened and Morgana came in. ” Gabi, you slept for too long” She said sitting beside me and touching my left hand. ” How do you feel now?” She asked me. ” Much better” I replied. “Where are we?” I asked again. ” In a room” She replied.

I drove off on Gabi’s bike to a small house owned by an old native doctor, not those involved with witch craft. She had actually treated me once when I was involved in s club fight, that was back then when I was still a stripper. The time is 7:35pm and you might be wondering how it went after we left the Mr Jude’s mansion. I had driven Gabriel first to the native doctor’s place and headed back to perfect peace hotel. I Parked the bike in a safe corner and located the bush where I kept my cloth. I wore them and cleaned myself before jumping over the fence with the help of a tree in the bush. I had to swallow my fear as I climbed up through the pipe after two failed attempts. I quickly had a shower , disposed the knife and cleaned my heels, I washed my under wears and dried them on a drying line in the bathroom, I then put on my cloth. I came back some minutes later and made for the door, ” Where are you going to?” He asked . ” My house ” I replied angrily. ” Let my guards drop you off” he pleaded, ” No, I know my way, if you need me, you know where to pick me, Kendrick” I said to him and walked out from the room. I went downstairs only to meet a man in boxers explaining how he was tied down by a young man, I smiled as I knew who it was, that was how I escaped from the hotel and headed home for a change of cloth, Christiana wasn’t home and the house was just like we left it the previous night. ” Hello Matt” I said as I picked my ringing phone. ” Morgana, have you heard from Gabriel, we hadn’t seen him since morning and he isn’t picking his phone” Matt said over the phone. ” Gabriel asked me to keep the secret but am trusting you on this, he went out with a girl” I said. “Oh, that must be that girl he meant in the club two days ago” Matt said laughing. ” Yes, a sort of club girl he had told me” I said, I could hear israel laughing from the background and hailing Gabriel. ” Okay Morgana, am relieved now, bye” Matt told me. ” Did you guys do anything today?” I asked him. ” No, Daniel gave us the day off, he said he was busy with something ” He replied and hung up, he is always know of minimizing airtime. . ” Something I dont know” He said looking up to the old white ceiling, ” We have to be there” he said again after some time. ” Where?” I asked. ” The port, we must find out what they are shipping” he said to me. ” You aren’t looking fit” I said not willing to go ahead with his mission. ” Am not forcing you to come Morgana, I can go in my own but dont tell anyone about my whereabout. Some how, those people are kind of connected to the numerous deaths in Atata” he shouted. ” I didn’t say am not joining you, stop barking ” I shouted back facing him. ” I dont need you anyways” he said again, ” Maybe next time you will get a bullet to your head” I fired angrily at him. “It will be my pleasure ” he said and lied on the bed facing the ceiling. ” Am sorry” I murmured unwillingly to him after some moment of silence but he didn’t reply. ” Gabi” I called but he didn’t still answer. ” For Christ sake, I said am sorry” I shouted angrily, ” You better dont give yourself hypertension ” He said but didn’t still look up. ” Am I forgiven?” I asked him ” Are you coming with me?” He also asked. ” Of course, I will come with you” I said smiling. ” Then you are forgiven” he replied as he got up from the bed. ” Let’s go have fun” he said looking out through the window, ” What sort of fun?” I asked him, ” Like a night ride” He answered while I smiled. ” Let’s go” I said throwing the key of his bike to him, just then the old nurse entered. ” Are you both going out?” She asked smiling to reveal her scattered teeth, not white at all. ” Yes mama, for a ride” I replied. ” My son, come back quick, I still need to do something on the hand ” She said. ” okay mama ” Gabriel said as the old woman walked out.” I hope you can drive?” I asked him, ” Watch and see ” he said bouncing out. Ten minutes later, we both could be seen cruising the street of Lagos on his bike, loud music from different clubs and bars made the night.

With smiles and happiness of the morning, I went to the stream, I have been relieved when Alvana told me Gabriel hadn’t written the letter, I swayed and smiled happily as I went to the stream early that cold morning, I do go very early before other village maidens so as not to be involved in gossips. The village girls are good gossipers, they can involve you in useless talk and waste your time. ” Adanna” I heard Alvana called from behind, he was going to his farm as usual, he had a how hanged on his shoulder and a cutlass on his hand. ” Alvana, good morning” I greeted. ” You are so hardworking, you mean you have come to fetch water this morning?” He asked smiling. ” Yes” I replied. ” Hmm, let me take Gabriel place, let me escort you to the stream” he said. ” No, dont bother..” He interrupted. ” I want to escort you to the stream, that isn’t something big is it?” He asked smiling, I had no option than to give in. ” Don’t worry, you are meant for Gabriel and am not taking his place” Alvan said smiling. ” I just miss him so much” I told him. ” When he was here you could not tell him you love him and you are missing him now.” Alvana said laughing. ” The boy is meant to tell the girl not otherwise” I said calmly. ” Another postulate by Alfred Marshal” he said laughing . ” Who is Alfred Marshal?” I asked. ” An economist” he said. ” Stop there!!” A voice shouted from behind, we both turned and it was Mbe the cat, I felt pity for Alvana immediately. “Your dog has come” Alvana said to me smiling, ” Won’t you run?” I asked pushing him away. ” Run? I felt Morgana legs clutch round my waist as I hung freely on the pipe, her scent was nice and her soft body sent a warm sensation round my body. I could tell she was a bit scared but I wasn’t, I had pass through stuffs more than that during my training days, stuffs like the free rope hanging. I sometimes wonder how they manage to pass through trainings, I mean the girls. Morgana is a small girl, pardon me, a small bodied girl but older in age, about some years older than I am. I descended down the pipe until I was on the same level with the fence which served as the demarcation between perfect peace hotel and an abandoned land surrounded with bushes beside the hotel. “One,two and go” I shouted as I jumped into the bush , Morgana got displaced from my back and rolled on the floor. ” Are you okay?” I asked standing up to her as I pulled off the overall. ” Am fine” she replied dusting her white shirt. “Let’s go” She said but I stood still. ” What is it?” She asked. ” How do you protect your identity, your cloth and your face might sell you off” I replied her. ” True” She said as she took a look at herself. ” What do we do now, this is 12:11, the school dismissed by 2:30 so we gat no time” I said. ” I got this” She murmured as she took off her white shirt to reveal her inner armless singlet, she also took off her trouser leaving her with only a bomb short and a singlet, both black. ” Would you please take your eyes off my body?” She said, I never knew I was staring at her. ” I wasn’t staring at you” I tried defending myself. ” The fear of women, is the beginning of wisdom” She said. ” What about your face?” I asked trying to change the subject, she looked around and saw a piece of charcoal, she picked it up. ” You wanna design your face with that?” I asked her. ” No” she replied and almost immediately, took off my Cap and handed the charcoal to me,” Use this to draw lines on your face when we get there, that’s to hide your identity” She said as she covered her face with the cap.” What is the m…” She interrupted. ” Let’s go” she said. I abandoned the overall where her cloth was. ” Make sure you come back here for your cloths” I told her and with that, we found our way to where my bike was parked. Love Avenue is a bit far from perfect peace hotel and its a long distance to royalty school, I found my way through some corners riding on high speed, in about 20 minutes, we were standing in front of the deserted, scanty street, Love Avenue. ” The house as i heard, is the only mansion here” Morgana told me. ” I know” I replied scanning the street with my eyes. There wasn’t any individual moving in the street, the only people there were some rough looking boys who sat in the front of a house smoking and minding their businesses, they didn’t see us as we stood in a tight corner of the street with my bike. ” Don’t you think we should alert the others?” Morgana asked me, ” No, let just catch fun” I replied. ” How do we get to the house?” She asked again. ” From what I learnt, the house is in the middle of the street. Where are the keys?” I asked her and she brought it from the pocket of her bomb short. ” Let’s just walk like nothing is wrong” Morgana suggested. ” Let’s do this” I said and we started trekking in the middle of the street, we walked like lovers as Morgana clutched herself round me, the few people we met on the street showed no concern as they of course thought we were lovers, the only thing that could have arose stirs would be Morgana half naked dressing but no one paid attention to us, that’s lagos for you, not like Atata where the old women will kill you with their stairs. It didn’t take us long before we found ourselves in front of the big Sir Jude Ike’s Mansion, there wasn’t guards on the outside, but some rotating security camera. ” See how those cameras are rotating, we are to move in anti of it” I said. ” I can’t code what your are saying” She replied. ” I mean we are to move in negative of the rotation of the camera to prevent it from getting us” I said again as we stood some distance from the gate. ” Okay, I can code now” she said smiling, just then her phone rang. ” Hello my darling” She said over the phone. ” Okay love” she replied after some seconds and hung up ” Its Jude ” she said turning to me, ” Who is Jude?” I asked. ” Sir Jude Ike” She replied almost shouting. ” He said he will soon be home” She said again while I checked my wrist watch, it was 1:30. ” We have less than one hour for this” I said while she nodded. ” Let’s play some games” She said drawing my hand to the side of the building, there wasn’t any house in either side of the building , the house closer to it was about a distance of 200m from it, and it was an uncompleted house. A long fence was rounded the mansion, a kind of security. ” You have to jump” I told her as I bent down for her to use my back as a stepping stone before jumping. ” What about you?” She asked. ” I will sure join you” I replied her. She advance backwards a little and with full speed ran towards the fence, she climbed on me and immediately, leaped and did a Summersault over the fence. I stood up and also went backwards,I first used the charcoal in drawing lines on my face, then With all the speed I could gather, I took off and jumped, my height gave me an advantage as I was able to hold the top of the fence with my two hands, I drew my self up and then landed into the compound. Morgana quickly drew me aside as if we were under attack. ” What is it?” I asked looking around suspiciously. ” Move against the camera gradient” she said pointing at a nearby camera. The house wasn’t much decorated, what surrounded it were just pillars, on the pillars were cameras. There wasn’t any kind of decoration like flowers and the likes. I drew Morgana and hid behind one of the numerous pillars, as we stood, we were watching the movement of the cameras which rotates every 30 seconds, they actually rotate in the same direction. I heard the front door open, I peeped and saw a guard looking around, he was in suit and was holding a pistol. He looked towards our direction and I quickly hid myself, I looked up and saw the camera already rotating towards us, ” Time to play” I said to Morgana who was standing tight against the pillar and looking up at the camera. I took off my gun from my waist side, the camera was now very close to facing us, the guard was still standing by the door, the pillar was the only thing shielding us from him. I held Morgana into my arm and I turned sharply to the other side of the pillar facing the guard. Almost immediately, I released a bullet to the guard who fell down dead, at the same time I was able to shield myself from the camera as I now stood in the other side of the pillar which the camera could not see, I was standing and facing the door to the building. Morgana ran to the dead guard and took his gun as she had no gun.

” How do you know it isn’t drafted by him?” I asked Alvana who was still staring at the letter. ” That’s because I know” he answered weirdly. Alvana is a tall muscular guy with well trimmedd moustache, he is fair and well built, he is also gentle and handsome. ” How are you meant to know?” I asked him. ” Because I have once lived in the city, I know the ways of the city, someone else might have sent this letter” he said again, he was very confident. ” Am confused here, how did that someone else know me?” I asked him. ” That someone else might me some how close to Gabriel and maybe at one time, Gabriel had told him about you” Alvana said again. ” How did you know it is a him?” I asked him. ” Because we use him mostly , it is actually stressful saying him or her” Alvana said smiling. ” Just promise me you won’t tell him about this letter” Alvana requested. ” Why?” I asked him. ” Because it might make him start thinking over unnecessary things” Alvana added. ” Okay” I said unwillingly. ” I dont believe you, am gonna take the letter from you” He said as he folded the letter. ” No, I want to show him as an evidence” I said forgetting my earlier promise. ” You promised not to tell him anything about the letter remember?” he said while I breathed and allowed him have the letter. ” Am sure he didn’t send this letter, very sure ” he said again. ” Alvana, what about your family?” I asked him, he smiled and looked up to the sky. ” I got none, my parent died long time ago in Bethlehem, I am their only child and I know no relations” he said in a funny manner while I smiled. ” Am sorry about that” I told him. ” About what?” He asked, ” Your parents” I said. ” You didn’t kill them, did you?” He asked frowning his face. ” I never knew you were this fun to be with” I said while he smiled making himself more handsome. ” I heard Mbe has been beating guys over you, let me go before he catches me here” he said while I smiled. ” Dont worry, he isn’t over me anymore, Gabriel had beaten him once by the stream.” I told him, his facial expression changed. ” Are you sure? ” he asked . ” Yes, he punched him, carried him up and Mbe back touched the ground” I said trying to demonstrate with my body. ” Gabriel isn’t meant to do that” Alvana said more like a whisper, ” Why?” I asked. ” Because it isn’t good to fight” Alvana replied smiling. ” Okay, Adanna, let me run along now” He added and turned to go. ” Dont misplace that letter” I shouted over to him, he turned to me and nodded as he walked away. I also turned into our compound, somehow I believed him when he said Gabriel hadn’t written the letter.

Together with Morgana, we entered into the open door, the inner house happens to be well decorated, it was full of glasses and fragile equipments. In a side of the sitting room is a portrait of Sir Jude, there wasn’t any guard in sight but I could hear footsteps coming from the stairs, they seem to be running down, its sure were the guards. There were also some cameras in the room, all rotating like the ones outside. ” Come here” I said pulling Morgana to a pillar in the house. They were about four guards with pistol each, they stopped when they saw the opened door. I took a slight peep and saw one of them advancing towards our pillar, he was fat and muscular. I held Morgana tight to the pillar and took a deep breath, I could hear the guard footsteps just some inches from us. He walked more closer to us and I quickly crossed my leg on his path. He fell to the ground heavily and quickly did a Chinese get up, I didn’t allow him relax as I gave him a flying kick, the kick pushed him away some distance. The other guards took to actions as they started firing in my direction, I did a backward roll to the pillar to prevent the bullets from touching me. The one whom I had given a kick earlier made to get up slowly but Morgana released a bullet to him, the firing started again, they fired in the direction of the pillar. ” one, two and go” I whispered to Morgana and almost immediately, we came out from our hidings and released fire on the other guards who were taken unaware. ” What’s next?”Morgana asked smiling happily. ” Let’s go up” I said and we headed to the stairs. ” Shhhh” I said to Morgana as I drew her closer to a pillar, out of no where, a bald headed guy pass us. I removed one of my knives and crawled towards him, I stabbed him from behind and he fell down dead. I heard gunshot behind me, I turned, it was Morgana killing another guard. ” This is real fun” she said to me. There were only two rooms upstairs, each room having an over head camera which rotates like others. ” Let’s go to the left room” She said to me and I concurred. We were just about pushing the door open when it opened by itself and two guards came out, One came to me while the other to Morgana. He threw a punch at me and I Dodged it with my left hand, I gave him a kick on his manhood which made him groan in pain and bent down holding the affected region. “Finishing” I shouted as I jumped and landed on his back neck with my legs wide apart, a splint. Morgana was still battling with her’s, he gave her a kick in her chest region which pushed her backwards, taking him by shock, she did a forward roll and jumped on him, she didn’t just jump on him, she had stabbed him with a knife on his neck. ” You are bloody ” I said to her as she removed the knife from his neck and slipped it into her black hill. ” Its called being economical” she said smiling. We entered into the room, it was surrounded with all sort of electronics. At the end of the room is a glass window, I walked towards it and could only see the free lands beside the house demarcated by a fence, Morgana also came towards the window. ” Stay here and watch” I said to her as I slipped my gun into my waist side and bent by one of the laptops. It was like it was being operated on before we badged in, it wasn’t encrypted with passwords like the others. The laptop was on the mail section, they were reading some mails from it. The first mail was from an address, portagentmail. com, I opened it only to see the picture of a young lady. Below the picture is a message, Kidnap or kill?. I didn’t understand the message and I closed it, the next message was from an address lagosportmail com, It had a message, we will be shipping them in two days time, we depart at exactly 9:00pm. ” Shipping what?” I thought to myself, I closed the message also and moved to the middle messages, one email address caught my eyes, atataagentmail .com, I quickly opened the message, I saw the picture of a young man, a young man whose face seem familiar, I tried placing my hands where I had seen him, yes, he was the dead young man I saw in the igwe’s palace the day I visited the palace after my arrival from the city, the guy who had the mark of the sword. Just then the door badge opened and about five guards entered, they started shooting aggressively towards us, Morgana tried shooting back at them. I ran towards her, I grabbed her up and broke through the glass window as we jumped over to the free land behind the mansion, I wasn’t lucky as a bullet caught my left hand.

Stepping into the toilet of Royalty primary school for the first time reminded me of my primary school, Umuede Primary School Atata, as a matter of fact, Umuede Primary school toilet is much better than that of Royalty’s. I never knew the children living in the city could be so evil, their DNA has been transduced with wickedness. How do I explain this, they had filled up the water cistern toilet with *** and even the floor. The once white tile had been given a new rainbow colour. I wanted to curse the students but I decided to leave it for God, anyways, there shall be no peace for the wicked. With the broom, mop, detergent, brush and detergent provided to me, I was able to wash the toilet to the best of my ability. I was in the washing act when a call came into my phone, I went out to pick up. It was a call from Morgana, she had said she wanted me to come over and help her in some stuff, some stuff concerning our mission. I finished the washing and had my bath in the staff toilet, I then change from the cleaners dress to my normal dress. ” Hello Mr not interested” Tobi called as I walked pass the basic five class, I turned back and went into the class. ” Hi Tobi, how are you doing?” I asked walking close to her. ” Good morning sir, you welcome to our class” The students greeted in union. ” Good morning students, how are you?” I asked smiling although i still held grudges against them for the wicked attitude displayed in using the toilet. ” Fine thank you sir” they replied and sat down in union. ” I like this your earpiece o” Tobi said as she made to remove the micro earpiece from my ear. ” Thanks” I said letting her have the earpiece. ” What do you use it for?” She asked trying to wear the earpiece. ” To receive calls” I replied. ” Can you dash it to me?” She asked again while I shook my head. ” its the only one have got ” I replied removing the earpiece from her ear. ” Let me leave you to your class, I am also quiet busy” I told her as I turned to leave. ” So, like seriously, you won’t tell me your name?” She asked as I got to the door. ” Gabriel” I replied smiling. ” Not a sweet name” she complemented. I left her class and headed to the principal office, I needed permission before leaving the school. ” Good morning sir” I greeted him as I stepped into the office, he looked up from the note he was writing. ” Mr Cleaner, good morning” he replied. ” Sir, I am done with the washing of the toilet, I have an appointment with my doctor by 9:00am, I came to seek for per…” he interrupted me. ” so far you have done the chores assigned to you, you are always free to leave” he replied and continued with his note. ” Thank you sir” I murmured and made to leave. ” sorry sir, when does the school dismiss?” I asked when I got to the door. ” 2:30pm” he replied without looking up. The time was just 8:45am, there is enough time to catch fun with Morgana. I had had an encounter with sir Jude Ike that morning, I was just stepping into the main gate when he arrived with his old beetle car and parked it in front of the gate. ” Good morning sir” I had greeted him smiling. ” Good morning young man” he replied cheerfully. ” Do you work here?” He asked as he walked into the school premises, the time keeper was already standing in the compound with the bell ready to be jingled. ” I am a cleaner sir” I had replied him. ” A cleaner, how can a guy like you be a cleaner, a fine guy like you” he said. ” The economy of the country sir, and I am not even qualified to work as a teacher, I just have a secondary school cert” I told him. ” hmm, let’s talk tomorrow, I will see you tomorrow ” he said and walked into the school. That was the encounter I had with him, from the way he talked, he seem a very nice man and I doubt if he had any skeleton in the cupboard.
• I arrived home around 9:15am and changed into a short and a top which I covered with a jacket, our black spy Jacket. I wore a black cap and canvas to match. I took a small pistol and hid it in my waist region, covering it with the top. I opened my briefcase and brought from it a well arranged row of knives, i embedded them in the jacket. I took the key to my black bike and about 5 minutes later, I was on the way to perfect peace. From the beginning of the street perfect peace which was named after the perfect peace hotel, I could see the edifice building of the perfect peace hotel. From any point in the street, you are sure to have a clear view of the hotel, it is the largest structure in the whole street, not in the whole street but in the environs of Iyana Ipaja under bridge area. I parked my bike in a safe corner of the street and bounced off to the hotel. Just as Morgana had said, men in suits could be seen around the building, they must surely be Sir Jude’s guards. I went into the hotel proper and was impressed by what I saw. ” I need a room” I told the reception as I stood in front of her. ” Welcome to perfect peace sir, what sort of room would you like?” The beautiful young lady asked me. “Any comfortable room” I replied her. ” Room 234 will be perfect” she said smiling. ” How much per room?” I asked her smiling back but also making sure my face was well shielded by the face cap. ” For room 234, it 80 thousand naira ” she replied . ” Am new here, can’t you reduce..” She interrupted. ” That is the fixed price sir” She replied. “Okay, I have no cash at hand now, Can I pay with this?” I asked bringing out my ATM card. ” Of course you can, pay over there and come have your key” she said pointing to the P.O.S stand. I walked over and deposited the money, the receipt came out from the machine. ” Have a nice time Sir ” She said handling the key to me. ” Please I will also need a tray of well friend chicken and a good quality wine, am kind of very hungry” I said to her. ” it will be delivered as soon as possible sir” she said and I walked away in search of the room. In the quest of my search, I got to pass Morgana’s room, room 222. There were two men in suit watching over it like there was a kind of treasure in there. I adjusted my cap well before passing by. I had barely sat down on the big bed of room 234 when a young man walked in with a tray of chicken and Wine. ” Your order sir” he said smiling, he couldn’t tell if I was smiling or not as my cap covered my face. ” Thanks” I told him. ” If you need anything sir just put a call through” he said and turned to go, I quickly stood up from the bed and drew him back, I twisted his hands backwards and turned his face to the ground. Almost immediately I brought out my gun and pointed it directly to his head. ” See, I dont kill, just co operate with me, keep quiet” I told him while he nodded his head vigorously and his whole body started to shiver, his sweat gland seem to produce more sweet or maybe his skin probably allowed more diffusion from the internal environment of his body, he was sweating profusely. ” Dont be scared, I promise not to harm you” I assured him as I pulled off his overall, his work cloth. He was left with just a boxer and singlet, both soaked with sweat. ” let’s go” Gabriel said to me pulling my hands towards the door. ” Nope, I can’t go out, he had instructed his guards to enclose me here” I replied as I got freed from his hand and sat on the bed. ” oops, we need to find a way out. ” he said putting on his cap and taking a stroll to the side window. ” Perfect, there is a long plastic wall pipe here” he said looking down the side window. I joined him there and he was right, there was really a pipe there, those pipes use to channel water from the bathroom to the suck away. ” Then how are we going to pass the gate, his guards are also there? ” I asked. ” We descend through this pipe to the fence level and jump out there” he said again pointing to the free land surrounded with bushes, the land was just beside the hotel. ” The pipe might get broken” I said. ” it won’t get broken if you dont rest your full weight on it, we are to move with our legs on the wall while the hand holding the pipe for support. I touched his shoulder, his muscles were firm, well built and smooth. I spread my leg across his back and enclosed them in his waist region. His scent was good, my hands touched his muscular chest and for once, I wished he was mine. ” You can close your eyes so you won’t have nightmares” he said smiling. ” Come on, let’s go” I said enclosing my legs more to his waist region, I felt something move round me, dont know what it was. He walked to the side window and opened it, my weight didn’t weigh his down, I was small compared to him. He spread his leg across the window but prevented himself from falling by holding the edge. ” Here we go” he whispered as he stretched his left hands to the pipe connecting the bathroom of the room beside mine to the suck away. ” Guy be careful” I said to him as he released his second hand from the window. ” Oh. God” I almost shouted as he hung freely in the air, his left hand which was holding the pipe was the only thing that prevented us from falling, I held him more tight ” Hey calm down” he said as he held the pipe with the other hand, he then placed his both legs on the wall in a way that the pipe was a demarcation. Gradually and slowly he climbed down gently until we were at the fence level, the fence separating the hotel from the bushy land. ” One, two, and Go” He said as he jumped with me into the bush, we rolled separately as we got displaced from each other.

I took my water pot and headed to the stream, It was around 12:00 in the afternoon, I didn’t go that morning due to depression, I was busy thinking about Gabriel. My mother wasn’t around as she had gone to market early that morning, my dad had travelled to a neighbouring village the day before.
• I had finished fetching my water and heading back home when I saw the guy from the city, Alvana, coming from the path leading to his farm. There was something strange about this guy, he came to the village some years ago, he didn’t come with a relation, no one knew where he came from. He acquired a land and started farming, he also built a small hut for himself and he hardly associates himself with any one. The only chance I had gotten to be close with him was the day he saved Gabriel from Mbe. ” Adanna” he greeted as he walked to me, I was surprised as he had never talked to me before. ” City guy,good afternoon” I greeted him. ” I had not seen your friend lately” he said as we walked together. ” Which friend?” I asked him. ” Dont pretend like you dont know, That guy you were tripping for of course, Gabriel” he said smiling , ” He had gone back to the city” I replied him frowning my face. ” Eyah, sorry dear, he will surely come back to you ” Alvan said laughing . ” He is engaged already” I said angrily. ” Engaged, that is a lie, who told you that?” He asked . ” No one, he told me through a letter” I replied him. ” Hmm, I won’t believe you until I see the letter” he said. ” Gabriel isn’t engaged to anyone” he said confidently. ” Then follow me to my house to get it” I dared him.
• Alvana stood outside my compound with the letter in hands but over his face, he read the content out loudly and bursted into laughter, his laughter soon changed to a frown but he quickly covered it up with a smile. ” I can assure you of something” he told me. ” What?” I asked. ” Gabriel didn’t draft this letter” He said confidently.
